RAINGEAR STYLE TIPS

The two basic styles of raincoats are: the classic trench coat, double-breasted and belted, and the mackintosh, buttoned up to the neck and a-line shaped.  Basic doesn’t have to mean “boring”…try a unique pattern, like zebra stripes or polka dots!

Add accessories, like a colorful rainhat or umbrella, to a basic khaki or black raincoat that POP!  Wellington rainboots (“Wellies”) can be found in countless colors and patterns---from powder pink to Pucci, and they’ll keep your feet warm and dry.

Consider where you will wearing your raincoat when choosing it.  A raincoat worn to the office should be a longer style to wear over suits and jackets, and a neutral color.  Keep the short, yellow slicker for weekend-wear.

If you’re going to wear sweaters under your raincoat, make sure you have one with you when trying coats at the store.  Otherwise, you may select a coat that’s too small and will end up feeling uncomfortable.

Caught in the rain without your “wellies”?  Be sure your shoes are treated periodically with a water-repellent spray, available at your neighborhood shoe repair.
